School Exchange Dialogue Good News:
Scheduling has been a challenge this year, and we are happy to report that we are slowly overcoming this barrier. The following has been completed and/or is in progress:
Facilitator Trainings and Sessions 1+2 for ITC-Tully-Baker. This dialogue will be done by the end of February.
Facilitator Trainings and Sessions 1+2 for HW Smith-Eagle Hill. This dialogue will be done by the end of March.
Dates set for Nottingham-FM, beginning in February. Working toward engaging a 3rd high school for this dialogue exchange (Henninger or Corcoran). The dialogue runs from Feb 3-April 7
Working toward setting dates for PSLA-Big Picture and ELMS-Wellwood
The dialogue might look different, but it sounds the same.
A few quotes from students taken after virtual dialogue sessions this week:
“I was really proud of my group. It was a really good dialogue today and I loved it.”
“I learned a lot about bias today. I realized how big a role it plays in our society.”
“Before judging a person you should really learn their story.”
Our takeaway: Virtual Dialogues Work! Students open up, student facilitators are amazing in the virtual environment, and connections can still be made.
Without YOU, the adult allies, the dialogues wouldn’t happen. We thank you and appreciate you.
Join us!
As a THANK YOU, and as an opportunity for you to build community, the Center for Dialogue invites you to the first virtual Adult Ally gathering, next Thursday, January 28th from 3:00-3:45pm (or come for just part of it!). Please RSVP by the end of this week, and you will receive a free bag (delivered!) of Salt City coffee, tea, or hot cocoa as a thank you for your hard work.
(Even if you can’t make the meeting, but are interested in future gatherings, a “no” RSVP will be helpful as it will allow you to input your availability and preferences.)
Hope to see you there!
